The Iron Fist #1: The Intro

|

First off, just let me say that it is such an honor and a privilege for me to be working with the guys here at MMASucka! They really are a great bunch of guys and I’m happy to join the team.

For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Jeff Van Dam and I am a strength and conditioning coach from Victoria,BC. It’s my life, my love and my passion. It has allowed me to study kinesiology and physiology, exercise science and human behavior. I have had the privilege of training some of the top athletes in the world including members of the Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Argonauts, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants, Canadian Olympic athletes and over 80 amateur and professional MMA athletes including Georges St Pierre, Derek “Mad Dog” Medler, Karel “The Viking” Bergen, Nick “The Juggernaut” Hinchcliffe, Jer “The Jerk” Kornelson and many others. Through the years, I’ve been able to log over 12,000 hours of hands-on training in real world situations earning me the award for 2009 & 2010 Canadian Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year as voted by my clients and colleagues.

What I hope for this blog to be, is a place for me to share my experiences, knowledge and opinions regarding all things strength and conditioning.  At times I may be a bit brash and for that I do not apologize.  That’s just me being me, so take it for what it’s worth.  I’ll be sharing some very personal experiences as well, so stay tuned for my next blog post where I’ll go into greater detail about some struggles I’ve had to overcome over the past few years to get to where I am today.  Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to a great future with the crew at MMASucka!
