Nick Diaz tests positive for marijuana metabolites following UFC 143 drug test

|

The rumors had been circulating over the past few days that Nick Diaz had tested positive for something following his fight against Carlos Condit at UFC 143 this past weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Earlier today the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) sent out a statement which read as follows, “Thank you for the many email and phone calls.  I am still waiting for all the steroid and drug test results to come back.  We did have at least one positive test.  I will send out an email later today on that matter.”

Just moments ago, Keith Kizer of NSAC in fact did release that email today and to confirm all those recent rumors Nick Diaz has tested positive following the NSAC drug testing. The email which was sent out to media is below.

The following athletes were tested:  Nick Diaz, Carlos Condit, Fabricio Werdum, Josh Koscheck, Renan Barao, Ed Herman, Dustin Poirier, Max Hollaway, Matt Riddle, Henry Martinez, Edwin Figueroa, Alex Caceres, Matt Brown, Chris Cope, Rafael Natal, Michael Kuiper, Stephen Thompson and Dan Stittgen.  All results received thus far have been negative, except Mr. Diaz tested positive for marijuana metabolites.  A complaint for disciplinary action against Mr. Diaz has been filed.

Just days after the UFC 143: Diaz vs. Condit event, UFC President Dana White said that Condit had agreed to a rematch, but Diaz’ manager Cesar Gracie denied that without any explanation. We now know why and can only wait to see what the disciplinary actions will be against Nick Diaz.
