McCall vs. Johnson moved to UFC on FX 3, Papazian vs. Pague added

|

The controversy over who will meet Team Alpha Male’s Joseph Benavidez to crown the maiden 125-pound champion will be settled a full seven days sooner than expected.

The much anticipated rematch between Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall was rumored to take place on the UFC Ultimate Finale on June 15 but instead it will be a featured attraction on the UFC on FX 3 card.

Johnson and McCall threw caution to the wind putting together one of the better fights of the year — When Bruce Buffer read the final scores, Johnson believed he had won and McCall thought he had lost, turns out they were both wrong.

The State of New South Wales in Australia made an error in calculating the score sheets, announcing it as a majority decision instead of a majority draw as it was supposed to be, and more importantly cheating us of another five-minutes of action.

This bout will be resolved, in addition a bantamweight bout between Jared Papazian and Dustin Pague has been added to the lineup.

Pague and Papazian are in similar situations, both have shown promise yet both failed to win in their UFC debuts.

Pague was a cast member of the final season of The Ultimate Fighter on its original home at Spike TV as one of the standout members of Team Miller defeating Tateki Matsuda and Louis Gaudinot before losing in the semi-finals to TJ Dillashaw.

In his UFC debut he was considered the favorite heading into his bout with John Albert by most oddsmakers but wound up getting knocked out by the Team Bisping member.

Papazian didn’t have the powerful promotional vehicle of The Ultimate Fighter behind him, he got the opportunity after a string of victories California-based feeder league King of The Cage winning their flyweight title.

In his debut he drew top-ten bantamweight Mike Easton and gave him all he could handle and then some but “The Hulk” wound up getting his hand raised in the end.

Both men don’t want to be on the wrong end of a pink slip derby so expect fireworks between these two young, talented fighters.
