Aaron Simpson expected to make welterweight debut against Jon Fitch

|

Aaron Simpson has decided to drop down to the welterweight division after being being by Ronnie Markes at UFC on FUEL TV 1 in February.

MMAWeekly.com reported earlier today that he would make his debut likely at UFC 149 in Calgary, Alberta against Jon Fitch.

Simpson has spent his entire career in the middleweight divison. His current record is 11-3 and was on a 3 fight winning streak prior to losing a split decision to Markes. He then decided to be an oversized welterweight, rather than an undersized middleweight.

Fitch is looking to get back to his winning ways after losing for only the second time in his UFC career to Johny Hendricks at UFC 141 in December. The former #2 welterweight was on a 5-0-1 prior to dropping the fight to Hendricks with his only loss coming at the hands of welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.
