ONE FC announces Babalu vs. Mizuno as main event for June 23 card

|

Just after ONE FC Owner/CEO was on MMASucka Radio, the organization announced two fights for their fourth show. ONE FC: Destiny of Warriors is set to take place on June 23 live from Kuala Lumpur.

The main event of the card is a fight between former UFC and Strikeforce fighter Renato “Babalu” Sobral vs. Tatsuya Mizuno and also on the card is Masakazu Imanari vs Leandro Issa.

Sobral was on a six fight win streak before running into Gegard Mousasi at Strikeforce 19. He then followed up with a unanimous decision victory over Robbie Lawler, but most recently he lost a Strikeforce middleweight title eliminator fight to Dan Henderson. In late 2011, Sobral signed an exclusive contract with ONE FC. The veteran was expected to fight at ONE FC 3 back in March, but unfortunately had to pull out of the fight in order to become one of Wanderlei Silva’s coaches on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.

Mizuno (11-7) is a Japanese fighter who has fought for DREAM, K-1 and ProElite. He is currently riding a two fight win streak, with victories over Trevor Prangley and Illima Maiava. Mizuno has taken on some greats in his career, with the likes of Mirko “Cro Cop” and Thiago Silva in his early days. He also holds a win over Melvin Manhoef.

Imanari (25-10-2) is veteran to the fullest degree. With 25 victories in his career, he has beat the likes of Mike Brown, Yoshihiro Maeda and most recently Kevin Belingon. Imanari was a Cage Rage Featherweight Champion, DEEP Bantamweight Champion, former DEEP Featherweight Champion and DREAM Japan Grand-Prix Finalist.

The Filipino superstar, Leandro Issa (9-2) is on a six fight win streak coming into his fight at ONE FC:Destiny of Warriors against Imanari. He most recently defeated  Soo Chul Kim by Unanimous Decision at ONE Fighting Championship: Champion vs. Champion.

Keep it locked to MMASucka for further details as they arise with the ONE FC: Destiny of Warriors fight card.
