Daniel Cormier fulfills final Strikeforce obligation September 29

|

When the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix was announced in the early shades of 2010 little did we know that before it even concluded, the San Jose-based organization would be purchased by Zuffa, LLC, the parent company to the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

The finals of the series concluded with an alternate, Daniel Cormier dominating former UFC heavyweight king Josh Barnett over 25 minutes and gratifying a place as a top-five heavyweight.

The only issue is, the unbeaten former two-time Olympic squad member, has one date left on his deal with Showtime before he can be swim in UFC waters.

Tonight during the ‘Strikeforce: Rockhold vs. Kennedy’ broadcast they made it official that Cormier would have his final fight with the sister-organization on September 29 against an opponent yet to be named.

While it has not yet been announced it’s believed that Josh Barnett will also be competing on this event in his final fight with Showtime.
