Aldo vs. Koch goes down at UFC 153 in Brazil

|

UFC Brazil confirmed that Jose Aldo will defend his UFC featherweight championship at UFC 153 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil against Erik Koch.

The bout which was originally supposed to go down at UFC 149 in Calgary, Canada was unfortunately scrapped due to an injury to the champ.

Aldo (21-1) is currently on a fourteen fight win streak. This fight will be Aldo’s fourth title defense and the second time defending on home soil.

“I am so fortunate to be able to fight at home twice. I already feel the same energy. Perhaps even more renewed. In January (UFC 142), and has already made to feel the force of the crowd. It was great. I prepared for that fight a lot, now I will prepare myself double to give another great show for my fans, “said the featherweight champion.

Koch (13-1-0) is looking to become the youngest champion in UFC history at the tender age of 23. He has not fought since September of 2011, where he defeated former Ultimate Fighter winner Jonathan Brookins by Unanimous Decision.

UFC officials also announced Cristiano Marcello will face Reza Madadi in a lightweight bout on the card and had already confirmed a light heavyweight showdown between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Glover Teixeira.

UFC 153 is set to go down on October 13 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro.
