Jay Hieron returns to the octagon to face Jake Ellenberger at UFC 151

|

It didn’t take Joe Silva long to find a replacement for the injured Josh Koscheck.

According to MMAJunkie.com, Jay Hieron will step in for the injured Koscheck and take on Jake Ellenberger at UFC 151.

The former IFL and Bellator star is considered one of the top welterweights not in the UFC, well that has changed and he will have the opportunity to prove himself inside the octagon 7 years later.

Hieron fought in the organization twice, going 0-2. He lost to current welterweight kingpin, Georges St-Pierre in his first fight and Jonathan Goulet a year later. Since being cut from the UFC back in 2005, the Xtreme Couture fighter has gone an impressive 16-3.

Among those 16 victories, one of them is a unanimous decision win over Jake Ellenberger at IFL: Championship 2006.

UFC 151 is set to go down on September 1 in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be headlined by a light heavyweight championship fight between champ Jon Jones and challenger Dan Henderson.
