Daniel Cormier vs. Frank Mir slated for November 3 in Oklahoma

|

The long awaited fight between Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix winner Daniel Cormier and Frank Mir is taking place on November 3 in Oklahoma City.

Mir agreed to take on Cormier as a one-fight deal in the Strikeforce fighters last promotional bout.

USA Today reported that the card is expected to take place at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City on November 3.

Cormier is coming off the biggest win of his career against Josh Barnett in the Heavyweight Grand Prix Finale. The victory improved the amateur wrestling champion’s MMA record to 11-0.  Mir on the other hand is coming off a defeat at the hands of Junior dos Santos. He replaced Alistair Overeem and fought the champ on short notice.

Also expected to be on the card is a middleweight title fight between champ Luke Rockhold and an un-named opponent.

Rockhold tweeted back on August 26,

“Training camp starts tomorrow. Fighting sooner than I thought, sure there’ll be an announcement in the next week or two.”

Most likely Rockhold will defend his title against former Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza.
