Ivan Menjivar meets promotional newcomer Azamat Gashimov at UFC 154

|

Bantamweights Ivan Menjivar (24-9) and Azamat Gashimov (7-1) have been booked for the upcoming UFC 154 event that’s set to take place in Montreal.

The match-up was announced by UFC officials.

UFC 154 goes down on November 17th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The event is expected to be headlined by a fight that’s set to unify the current Welterweight straps, between reigning champion Georges St. Pierre and interim champion, Carlos Condit.

Menjivar is 3-2 in his stint with the UFC thus far, and was last seen at UFC 148 where he dropped a decision to Mike Easton. Prior to that defeat, Menjivar was riding high on a 3-fight win streak, that included victories over the likes of John Albert, Nick Pace and Charlie Valencia. A veteran of over 30 fights, Menjivar fights out of the famed TriStar gym in Monreal.

Menjivar will be welcoming promotional newcomer Azamat Gashimov to the big stage. The Russian fighter was originally slated to face Alex Soto at UFC On FUEL TV 3, but was eventually forced to pull out. Following a KO loss at the hands of Alexander Keshtov back in 2009, Gashimov recorded 2 wins on the trot before signing with the UFC. 6 out of the Russian’s 7 wins have come via stoppage or submission.
