Battlefield Fight League 18 – 3 Stars

|

Battlefield Fight League 18 went down live from beautiful Vancouver, Canada at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Center. It was a fantastic night of amateur fights and did not disappoint.

Battlefield Fight League 18 – 3 Stars

The nights main event saw David Kennedy become the new amateur welterweight champion, as he defeated former champ Stuart Deleurme via first round arm-bar. In the co-main event “Tricky” Nick Marinos was welcomed back to the BFL cage by Kyle “Warmaker” Warman, who defeated him by first round americana. Other notable fights of the 21 that went down were Rico Brinson def. Eli Wyse by Anaconda choke, Leo Xavier def. Andrew Valliquette by a crazy axe-kick gone wrong triangle and Achilles Estremadura def. Brett Lucero by KO in round 3.

Those were the top fights of the night, now let MMASucka.com break down the “Battlefield Fight League 18 – 3 Stars.”

Third Star – Leo Xavier

Xavier came to the center of the cage and threw a crazy axe-kick. He messed it up, but ended up turning it into a triangle choke. Only a high ranking Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt would be able to pull something like that off, and he did. This fight only lasted 31 seconds, but it earned Leo our third star.

Second Star – Achilles Estremadura

This was a fight that most of the fans were very excited to see. Estremadura comes from a local club called “Axe Capoeira” and is known for his flashy fighting style. We did not see much of that from him tonight, however we did see a precise and slick skill-set. He punished his opponents leg with some thunderous kicks and ended up finishing him in the third round with a brutal knockout. That is why Achilles is MMASucka’s second star.

First Star – David Kennedy

Although, the performance I’m sure wasn’t what he had planned (as he was on his back for half the round) David Kennedy won the Battlefield Fight League amateur welterweight title and did it in stunning fashion. His opponent, Stuart Deleurme is a fantastic grappler who is known for his control in fights. He had Kennedy on the mat for a good part of the first round and looked to control the much bigger welterweight fighter. Unfortunately,(well not so much for Kennedy) Deleurme left his arm out a little too far when he was throwing a punch and the West Coast MMA fighter grabbed a hold of it like a fat kid on a Smartie. Ding, Ding, Ding BFL crowned their newest champ at 2:22 of round number 1. Our number 1 star is the CHAMP.
