Last big win: Travis Browne

|

Travis Browne is a physical specimen – Standing six-foot-seven and 255-pounds the Hawaiian export is a large man, yet he moves like his counterparts several weight classes south.

The unbeaten Greg Jackson-trained fighter really broke through in his run with the Ultimate Fighting Championship with a pair of explosive knockouts. First he blew the doors off of James McSweeney, and then he superman punched seven-foot-tall giant Stefan Struve into oblivion.

While they were both highlight-reel acts of violence, his last big win was actually his last victory, an utter domination of Strikeforce export Chad Griggs.

Griggs opened with a powerful leg kick, which would be one of the only strikes he landed all fight. “Hapa” levelled him with a flying knee, initiated a clinch and powered the small heavyweight to the floor.

In the blink of an eye Browne had moved from side control to mount before he eyed off an arm-triangle, Griggs fought it but it was too late, it was deep and he forced the tap.

As a result, Griggs was booted from the land of the big boys and tested the waters down at 205-pounds. As for Browne, his story inside the famed Octagon continues on Friday night in the main event against another Strikeforce heavyweight, Antonio “Big Foot” Silva.
