Friday night, Bellator brought their unique tournament-based brand of mixed martial arts to Windsor, ON with the featherweight tournament quarter-finals as well as an a main event lightweight superfight between Eddie Alvarez and Patricky Friere.

It was the tale of the sad stories to start the main card as Mike Richman and Jeremy Spoon met in what was supposed to be a competitive battle, but apparently Richman did not get the memo. In only 23 seconds, Richman landed a headkick and followed up with a flurry, ending the bout. Richman moves to 13-1.

It looked like it could be a long night for Wagnney Fabiano early in the fight, as Russia`s Atep Stepanyan blocked a takedown and was landing well on the feet. An eventual takedown led Fabiano into mount and an eventual arm bar.

It was a violent first round between Rad Martinez and Nazareno Malegarie in the final featherweight quarter-final bout as both were bleeding from the nose. The second and third didn`t slow down much as Malegarie continued to take punishment until the final bell but refused to give up in what was a fantastic fight.

The main event, like most of the card, was a quick affair. Freire took a hard shot early in the bout and never seemed to fully recover, leading to a vicious head kick knockout later in the first round for Eddie Alvarez.
