Retro Recommendations: “Kid” Yamamoto vs. Masato

|

Usually I post fights from the mid-to-late nineties and usually they’re mixed martial arts fights. However, being the rebel without a cause that I am, I am going to give you a brilliant kickboxing match from 2004 instead.

Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto wasn’t a well-known fighter in the early years of the millennium despite coming from one of the most successful amateur wrestling families in Japan with his father a former Olympian and Olympic coach and his sisters both being champions.

That was all about to change on the New Year’s Eve 2004 fight with Masato, who was widely regarded as one of the best kick boxers in the industry at this point.

So grab some popcorn, sit back in that recliner and enjoy a high-tempo, action-packed kickboxing match that made the career of Yamamoto.
