Chris Weidman says a lot of Brazilian fans want to see Anderson Silva lose

|

Many people are anticipating the big super-fight between UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva and UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre.

However, St-Pierre will first have to defeat Carlos Condit this Saturday night at UFC 154 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. There is another fighter waiting for his opportunity to fight Silva: Chris Weidman.

The New York based fighter is currently undefeated in his professional MMA career at 9-0, most recently defeating Mark Munoz in the main event at UFC on FUEL TV, where he picked up Knockout of the Night honors for his performance.

In a recent interview with kimura.se, Weidman mentioned that he has spoken with numerous Brazilian fans who hope Anderson Silva loses.

“Not a couple, a lot, a good majority of them. Because I think I’m coming here confident I can beat Anderson, coming out in the public saying I can beat him, pretty much the ducking me thing. So I figured [the Brazilian fans] were going to be like, ‘Hey, wait a minute.’ But actually it was the opposite. You know, I guess there’s a lot of reasons, but a lot of them want to see him lose and they want me to beat him, so I was surprised with that.”

He did not mention where or when he spoke with these fans. He would also not go into detail as to why they want to see their countries superstar taste defeat, but Weidman would love to be the man to do that.
