Nam Phan replaces Eddie Yagin and takes on Dennis Siver at UFC on FOX 5

|

UFC featherweight fighter Nam Phan will once again grace the Octagon, as he replaces Eddie Yagin and will take on Dennis Siver on December 8 at UFC on FOX 5.

According to MMA Fighting Phan asked UFC officials if he could fight Siver and they granted his wish.

Yagin was unable to compete and was forced to bow out of action due to a bruised brain, which hospitalized the featherweight.

Phan (18-10) last fought at UFC on FOX 4, where he defeated Cole Miller by split decision. Since his stint on The Ultimate Fighter Season 11, Phan has been on a roller-coaster ride of wins and losses. He lost a phantom call split decision to Leonard Garcia at The Ultimate Fighter Finale and followed that up with a loss to Mike Brown at UFC 133. Phan was able to avenge the loss to Garcia at UFC 136 where he won a decision. Prior to his most recent victory, he fell short against Jimy Hettes at UFC 141.

Siver (20-8) made his featherweight debut at UFC on FUEL TV 2 against Diego Nunes and picked up his fifth win in his past six fights. This will only be Siver’s second time inside the Octagon in 2012 and he hopes to finish it with a bang.

UFC on FOX 5 is set to go down on December 8 from Seattle’s Key Arena. The event will be headlined by Benson Henderson vs. Nate Diaz for the UFC Lightweight Championship. Also featured on the card are fights between Rory MacDonald and BJ Penn, as well as Alexander Gustafsson vs. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.
