Former cast member of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ reality show Matt Mitrione has stepped in for the injured Shane Carwin to take on Roy Nelson at December’s TUF 16 Finale.

UFC officials announced verbal agreements for the match-up late Thursday afternoon.

Mitrione (5-1) was originally slated to face Phil De Fries at UFC 155 in December. Officials say De Fries will stay on the card and a replacement will be found.

Nelson (17-7) last fought at UFC 146 in May, defeating Dave Herman by first-round knockout.

The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale goes down Dec. 15 from The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The event also features the welterweight finals of TUF 16.
