Alexander Gustafsson wins unanimously against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in UFC on FOX 5 co-main event

SEATTLE – The co-main event at UFC on FOX 5 was a bloody mess.

Alexander Gustafsson took it to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua for three full rounds and picked up the unanimous decision.

Gustafsson has one loss on his UFC record and that comes to his current training partner Phil Davis. He is currently riding a six fight winning streak and the victory over Shogun is definitely the biggest of his young UFC career.

At the UFC on FOX 5 pre-fight press conference UFC President Dana White said the winner of this fight would be granted a Light Heavyweight title shot. We will see if that becomes true for “The Mauler”.

Following the fight Gustafsson spoke about that topic and he wants to fight anyone who has the belt.

“It was an awesome fight and it was such an honor to fight a legend like Shogun. I want the belt. I want to fight whoever has it.”
