Newcomer Lucas Martins steps in to face Edson Barboza at UFC on FX 7

UFC on FX 7 which takes place in San Paulo, Brazil will get to see Brazilian vs. Brazilian as Lucas Martins has stepped in for the injured Justin Salas to take on Edson Barboza.

An injury in training has forced Sales to withdraw from his bout with Barboza. UFC Officials announced the injury and new match-up on Wednesday.

The undefeated Martins (11-0) is coming off of two wins in a span of two weeks. His upcoming fight with Barboza will be his third in the last month and a half. Martins has only been a professional MMA fighter for 16-months; Nine of his 11 fights happened in 2012.

Barboza (10-1) will grace the octagon for the first time since suffering his lone blemish to Jamie Varner at UFC 146 this past May. He was on a four fight winning streak prior to the Varner loss.

The Barboza vs. Martins fight will serve on the preliminary portion of the UFC on FX 7 fight card.
