FCC 8 to take place on February 3rd in Goa, India

|

Full Contact Championship, one of India’s premier Mixed Martial Arts promotions, is set to showcase it’s first event of 2013. FCC 8 will be the organization’s 8th event, that will be taking place on February 3rd at the Vagator Beach situated in Goa, India.

This will be the first time that Goa plays host to a Mixed Martial Arts spectacle. FCC 8 will be showcased as part of the India Bike Week, a 2-day Bike Festival that takes place in Goa on the 2nd and 3rd of February. Sponsored by Harley Davidson, and with FOX TV as the official Television partner, this festival, along with FCC 8 will be packaged into a 3 hour programme that will be aired all over Asia.

MMASucka.com confirmed the match-ups and event details exclusively with FCC’s founder and head honcho, Prashant Kumar.

8 bouts have already been booked for FCC 8, and the event will feature promotional staples like Nitin Gaikwad, Aditya Deshpande and Sagar Kadu.

In the main event, Vishal Balkawade (1-1) is set to make his 2nd appearance under the FCC banner when he takes on MMA debutant, Tasir Sayed (0-0). The former will be the odds-on favorite to get his hand raised, having competed in 2 professional MMA bouts thus far. Balkawade fought Eddie Teel at FCC’s previous event, and won the fight via submission. With Gold Medals in Judo, Wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu, Balkawade has been dubbed by many as the next face of Indian MMA. Tasir Sayed, in the meantime, has medaled in Boxing but will still have to set up the barricades in this one.

In the 2nd featured bout of the evening, the aforementioned Eddie Teel (0-1) makes his return to the FCC ring against Sher Khan (1-0). Both fighters will be making their 2nd appearances under the FCC banner, and it’ll be interesting to see who gets the upper-hand in this bout. Teel, a native of Atlanta, Georgia, now resides in India and is desperate to get his first career win. Sher Khan, on the other hand, was last seen at FCC 6 where he submitted Vikrammraj Siingh. He will be determined to leave the FCC ring with his unblemished record still in tact.

Elsewhere, ‘The Spartan’ Nitin Gaikwad (3-1) will be looking to build on his current 2-fight win streak when he contests striking extraordinaire, Mukesh Degda (0-0). Gaikwad is a familiar face amongst the FCC ranks, having competed 4 times in the FCC ring thus far. With a 100% finish rate, Gaikwad will undoubtedly be looking to end this bout early. Mukesh Degda, meanwhile, will be entering his first professional MMA bout. A medalist in Wushu, Kickboxing and Boxing, Degda may have the striking credentials under his belt but it remains to be seen if jitters or fight experience will come into play under the bright lights of FCC 8.

Unbeaten FCC veteran Sangram ‘Slammer’ Bhakre (4-0) was originally slated to face MMA debutant Rahul Jadhav (0-0). Bhakre, however, was scrapped from the card. Jadhav will now face fellow promotional newcomer Sunil Mali (0-0) on February 3rd instead.

With that said, here’s the rest of the fight card (in its entirety) for FCC 8:

  • Sagar Kadu vs. Nadeem Farooqi
  • Aditya Deshpande vs. Surya Prasad
  • Sunil Mali vs. Rahul Jadhav
  • Gaurav Pandey vs. Harshad Sadgir
  • Alfaan Hashmi vs. Deepak Patil
  • Nitin Gaikwad vs. Mukesh Degda
  • Eddie Teel vs. Sher Khan
  • Vishal Balkawade vs. Tasir Sayed
