Honorio Banario vs. Bae Young Kwon to headline ONE FC’s return to Manilla on May 31st

First reported by Reuters, Singapore-based ONE Fighting Championship is set to return to Manilla, Philippines on May 31st. The event will be held at the 20,000-seater Mall of Asia Arena.

This will be the promotion’s 2nd event in Manilla, following the success of ONE FC 5: Pride of a Nation, which took place on August 31st at the Smart Araneta Coliseum . On that night, the stacked fight card featured a myriad of MMA superstars like Eduard Folayang, Eric Kelly, Jens Pulver, Bibiano Fernandes, and former UFC Heavyweight champions, Andrei Arlovski & Tim Sylvia.

The organization also released a couple of details regarding the forthcoming May 31st event.

Reigning ONE FC Featherweight title-holder Honorio Banario will be making his 1st title defense against South Korean prospect, Bae Young Kwon. Both fighters have actually faced off before, back at ONE FC 2: Battle of Heroes in Jakarta, Indonesia. Bae Young Kwon handed Banario the 1st defeat of his career on that night, and the Filipino fighter will be looking to even the score in their grudge match.

The likes of former DREAM title-holder Bibiano Fernandes, and Filipino hot-shot Eduard Folayang have been confirmed for the event. Also on the fight card will be the finals of the promotion’s inaugural Bantamweight Grand Prix.

ONE FC’s return to Manilla  will be sponsored by Casino Filipino.
