Jon Fitch takes on Josh Burkman in World Series of Fighting 3 main event

|

It was long rumored that Jon Fitch would make his promotional debut with the World Series of Fighting at their third event against Josh Burkman. Well, now it’s official.

The organization announced the June 14 match-up on Wednesday via their official Facebook page.

Fitch (24-5-1 1NC) was surprisingly cut from the UFC after his most recent loss to Demian Maia at UFC 156. He mentioned in numerous interviews that he feels much better since signing with World Series of Fighting and that he can’t wait to debut.

Burkman (25-9) is currently riding a four-fight winning steak and is 7-1 since leaving the UFC, with his most recent victory coming over former UFC fighter Aaron Simpson at WSOF 2.

“The People’s Warrior” is 2-0 in the WSOF and is the most deserving welterweight to welcome Fitch to the roster.

World Series of Fighting 3 will go down on June 14 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
