With UFC on FUEL TV 9 victory, Conor McGregor lands UFC on Fox Sports 1 fight in Boston

Conor McGregor (13-2) was riding a lot of steam coming in to the UFC and picked up even more with his debut against Marcus Brimage at UFC on FUEL TV 9 in Stockholm, Sweden.

It took the Dublin native just one-minute and seven seconds to knock out Brimage in devastating fashion. With no UFC event booked for Ireland, the organization has booked him in the next best city: Boston.

UFC President Dana White announced the booking at the UFC on FUEL TV 9 post-fight press conference.

“The answer is yes, you’re going to ask if I’m going to put McGregor on that card.”

McGregor earned $60,000 for his knockout on the preliminary portion of the card. The victory improves his winning streak to 10 fights.

White was very impressed by the way “Notorious” fought in his Octagon debut.

“I’m blown away. First of all, it’s his first fight ever in the UFC, he walks out tonight and got in the Octagon like it was his hundredth fight in the UFC. From the minute the bell started, he was nice and relaxed and moved around, and even after he gets the knockout, it’s like he’s been here before and done it 100 times. Kid was totally relaxed, he’s a beast, I’m impressed.”

UFC on FOX Sports 1 will go down on Saturday August 17 from the TD Garden in Boston, Mass.
