Shane del Rosario injured, Dave Herman now meets Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 162

|

An injury has forced heavyweight Shane del Rosario off the UFC 162 card against Dave “Pee Wee” Herman. Stepping in for the injured del Rosario is Brazilian Gabriel Gonzaga.

UFC officials recently announced the newly signed match-up.

Gonzaga (14-7)  lost his last outing against Travis Browne at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale in April. Prior to the loss “Napao” won three in a row, with two Octagon victories against Ednaldo Oliveira at UFC 142 and Ben Rothwell at UFC on FX 7.

Herman (21-5) returns to the cage after a six-month suspension for testing positive for marijuana following his UFC 153 loss to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. That loss was Herman’s third in a row and was the second time he had tested positive for marijuana.

No word as to when del Rosario will be able to return from injury.

UFC 162 is expected to go down on July 6 in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be headlined by UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva who takes on Chris Weidman.
