WAR MMA announces internet pay-(what-you-want)-per-view

Nick Diaz Promotions’ debut WAR MMA card will be available to watch online for those not in the area of Stockton, CA. In a bold move, however, NDP has chosen to make it available on a “pay-what-you-want” basis. This means that fans can make a donation to watch the event, and then decide to backtrack and watch the event for free if they so choose.

As an incentive to get people to donate for the card, the WAR MMA site is stating that the person who pays the most will receive a pair of fight gloves signed by Nick and Nate Diaz.

The pay-what-you-want model first caught public attention when British band Radiohead offered their album In Rainbows for download. Since then, it has been used by many acts, mostly small and independent ones, as means to make their music available online. This is appears to be the first time that an MMA promotion has taken the approach to stream their event to the internet’s viewing public.

WAR MMA presents their first card on June 22nd at the Stockton Arena in Stockton, CA. The card is scheduled to be headlined by a welterweight bout between Daniel “Ninja” Roberts and Justin “The Raw Deal” Baesman. For more on this and other upcoming events, stay tuned to MMASucka!
