Nandor Guelmino vs. Derrick Lewis set for UFC on FS1 2

Two UFC newcomers will slug it out at heavyweight when Guelmino meets Lewis on August 28th.

MMA Junkie reported the match-up late last night, and the UFC has effectively confirmed it by adding both fighters to its online roster listings.

Nandor Guelmino vs. Derrick Lewis set for UFC on FS1 2

Nandor “the Hun” Guelmino (11-4) got off to a rough start early in his career, going 2-2 in his first four fights. This included a TKO loss to kickboxing’s literal giant, Semmy Schilt. From 2010 on, though, it appeared Guelmino was running roughshod over the limited competition in his area’s regional promotions, and eventually got the call to fight Josh Barnett on the final Strikeforce card. Will Guelmino be able to impress his new bosses and redeem himself with a victory over Lewis?

Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis (9-2) is an American heavyweight hailing from the Silverback Gym in Houstin, TX. With five wins by KO or TKO and 1 no-contest in his last 6 fights, Lewis has been building himself up in both the RFA and Legacy Fighting Championships since a loss in Bellator in 2011 . He’ll be looking to to finish the fight early, as both his losses are by decision. Will be able to put out the Austrian’s lights?

UFC on FS1 2 is scheduled to take place on August 28th in Indianapolis, IN at the Banker’s Life Fieldhouse. It is currently headlined by a welterweight rematch between Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann. For more on this and other upcoming UFC events, stay tuned to MMASucka!
