MMA community make UFC 162 picks for Silva vs. Weidman

|

The UFC middleweight championship is on the line at UFC 162 on July 6 in Las Vegas, Nevada as champ Anderson Silva squares off against number one contender Chris Weidman.

The main event match-up has been anticipated for quite some time and will now come to fruition.

Weidman (9-0) is undefeated in his young mixed martial arts career, but has been on many fighters and fans radars for quite some time. He earned the number one contender status after a dominating performance against Mark Munoz at UFC on FUEL TV 4 this past July. It will be almost one year since the 29-year old has set foot inside the Octagon as he suffered an injury this past December.

Silva (33-4) has long been considered the greatest pound-for-pound fighter in the world. Although he is 38-years old, he hasn’t shown the wear and tear of age being a factor at all. The Brazilian champ is currently riding a seventeen fight winning streak, with sixteen of those inside the Octagon.

“The Spider” holds a number of records in the UFC including most knockout of the night awards (7), most consecutive title defenses (10), most finishes (14) and most knockdowns landed (17) to name a few. So many would think that the MMA community would be picking Silva without a doubt to win this fight against Weidman. Many of you may be surprised to see what they had to say.

Picking Silva: 14
Picking Weidman: 6
Undecided: 3
