In a battle of fitting nicknames, “Quicksand” Pyle will take on “The Immortal” Brown in a welterweight war at UFC on FS1 1.

Fox Sports 1 released the news earlier today on Twitter.

Thiago Alves hurt, to be replaced by Mike Pyle in bout with Matt Brown

Mike “Quicksand” Pyle (25-8-1) is one of the grittiest veterans of the UFC’s welterweight division. The current Syndicate MMA team member is currently riding a 4 fight winning streak, predicated on the submission grappler’s vastly improved striking. A dangerous wrestler who embodies the “grinder” tag to a tee, Pyle is coming into this bout off of a split decision victory over the durable Rick Story. Will he be able to drag “The Immortal” down in August?

Matt “The Immortal” Brown (17-11) is another one of the grizzled vets in the UFC’s 170 lbs. ranks. A dangerous striker with an ever-improving ground game, Brown is on a win streak of his own, having tasted victory in his last 5 fights. This includes a TKO victory over Canadian uber-prospect Jordan Mein. Will “The Immortal” pound “Quicksand” en route to a 6th victory and a future top 5 opponnet?

UFC on FS1 1 is set to go down on August 17th, 2013 at the TD Garden Arena in Boston, MA. The card is set to be headlined by a light heavyweight between Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Chael Sonnen. Stay tuned to MMASucka for more on this and other upcoming events.
