Video: Anderson Silva sheds a tear over talk of fixed Chris Weidman fight

|

Almost immediately after Chris Weidman defeated Anderson Silva to capture the UFC middleweight championship at UFC 162 fans and critics alike were calling “fix”.

After a takedown and battering in the first, Silva decided to drop his hands and taunt Weidman. When he got caught and ultimately knocked out many believed that he threw the fight. His post-fight interview didn’t add to the scepticism.

Silva appeared recently on a Brazilian television show entitled “Legendários”. Check out the transcription/translation of the tearful interview below thanks to Justin Wade.

Host: Very funny theories conspiracy theories – some say the fight was bought, some say the fight was fixed, what do you say?

Anderson Silva: I’m Brazilian, and people respect my story outside of our country – Japan, England, USA, and we very respected. We do our job very well. On the side of fixing the fight, and me selling it, I’m a little annoyed because when I enter the Octagon, I represent my country and I represent all the Brazilians here and outside who cheer me. It got me very upset, people thinking I sold the fight. i always said it’s a Brazilian belt, if it’s with me or another Brazilian, I always said I don’t want to fight with another Brazilian. If another Brazilian won, i would cheer them on. i wanted the belt to stay here. I’m not a politician, I’m an athlete and I represent my country and I’ll never fail them. Never.

***Hugs and applause***

Host: i think that answers any theory or idiot thing invented. Nothing can get in the way of what you did or will.
