One stop shop: UFC Fight Night 26 post-fight interviews
The inaugural FOX Sports 1 UFC event did not disappoint. Set at the TD Gardens in Boston, Massachusetts, the main event had Chael Sonnen reminding critics why he deserved his last two back-to-back title fights. Sonnen submitted former UFC light heavyweight champion, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, with a perfectly executed guillotine in the first round.
In the co-main event, underdog Travis Browne prevailed victorious against #5 ranked heavyweight Alistair Overeem. Browne ate several hard knee strikes to the body from Overeem which almost caused referee Mario Yamasaki to call the fight. Browne was able to get back to his feet and land a “Spideresque” front kick to Overeem’s face and finish the fight in the first round.
