When one Canadian falls, another will rise to take their place. Such is the case in the UFC, with the announcement that top Canadian prospect Jesse Ronson has been signed to take on the Brazilian grappling machine Michel Richard Dos Prazeres in place of the injured ginger Mark Bocek.

UFC officials confirmed the signing and changes to the UFC 165 bout earlier today.

Jesse “The Body Snatcher” Ronson (13-2) is one of the new generation of fighters making their way at Mark Hominick’s Adrenaline Training Centre. One of Canada’s brightest prospects at 155 lbs., Ronson has finishes in 10 of his 13 victories, and has wins over Ryan Healy and Alex Ricci (The brothers of Pat and Mike, respectively) on that list. Will “The Body Snatcher” be able to overcome Octagan jitters and smash the submission-happy Brazilian?

Michel Richard “Trator” Dos Prazeres (16-1) entered the UFC on the heels of a 16 fight winning streak in his native Brazil. Unfortunately, the submission ace made his UFC debut at welterweight against the always dangerous Paulo Thiago. Prazeres now returns to his natural weight class, and will be looking to put the squeeze on Ronson. Will “Trator” be stave off a second defeat and choke out his Canadian opponent?

UFC 165 goes down on September 21st at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario. The main event is currently a light heavyweight title bout pitting the champion, Jon Jones, against the first challenger of his generation, Alexander Gustafsson.
