Ali Bagautinov stops Marcos Vinicius in opening bout at UFC Fight Night 28

|

A flyweight battle between Ali Bagautinov and Marcos Vinicius kicked off the main card of the UFC Fight Night 28 portion of the card.

In round one it looked as if things were all but done as Bagautinov landed a big shot that dropped Vinicius. He then landed some good ground and pound – looked to sink in a deep guillotine, but Vinicius was able to get out and gain top control. He was able to keep that position for the better part of the rest of the round.

The Sambo fighter utilized his clinch and ground skills for the first portion of the second round, but Vinicius had such a great ground game and was able to get back on top. It didn’t take long for Bagautinov to get the fight back to the ground though. After getting frustrated in Vinicius’ guard, Bagautinov stood back up and let the Brazilian to his feet. The round ended with a late takedown by Bagautinov.

A very lacklustre third round had the crowd not too engaged. That was until the Russian landed a giant straight right punch which dropped Vinicius and he dropped down a bomb that turned out the lights.
