The UFC’s return to FOX will see “The California Kid” taking on “Mayday” in a clash of top bantamweights.
The UFC confirmed it both via their Twitter and UFC Tonight on FOX Sports 1.

“The California Kid” Urijah Faber (29-6) is – without a doubt – the most popular fighter in the sub-155 lbs. weight classes. The former WEC featherweight champion has been on a roll this year, winning 3 straight with 2 of those victories being finishes. In addition, Faber has an astounding record in non-title competition, not having suffered a loss in a 3 round fight since 2005. Will “The California Kid” be able to vanquish his youthful foe and get that last win he needs to earn a Zuffa record 6th title shot?
Michael “Mayday” McDonald (16-2) is one of the brightest young prospects in all of the UFC. The ferocious bantamweight, at 22 years old, has already demolished notable bantamweights like Miguel Torres and Brad Pickett and had one – unsuccessful – shot at the UFC Bantamweight Title. With 14 of his victories by some form of finish, the surging representative for the next generation will be looking to earn a second shot at gold. Will he be able to do it against the standard-bearer of lower weight classes in Faber?
UFC on Fox 9 has not had a location announced just yet, but will be going down on December 14th. The main event is rumored to be a lightweight title clash between new champion Anthony “Showtime” Pettis and the fighting pride of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, T.J. Grant.
