A lightweight showdown between Jamie Varner and Pat Healy is set to go down this December at UFC on FOX 9.

UFC officials announced the latest bout on Sunday.

Jamie Varner set to take on Pat Healy at UFC on FOX 9

Varner (21-8-1) made his return to the Octagon back at UFC 146 where he upset Edson Barboza by first round TKO. Since that bout, the Arizona Combat Sports product has gone 1-2 with losses to Joe Lauzon and Gleison Tibeau and his lone victory over Melvin Guillard.

Healy (31-16) was riding a six-fight winning streak leading in to his return to the Octagon and wound up beating Jim Miller at UFC 159, however that bout was overturned and became a no-contest due to “Bam Bam” testing positive for marijuana. He looked to get back on track at UFC 165, however Khabib Nurmagomedov had other plans and ended up taking the judges decision.

UFC on FOX 9 will go down from the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif. and will be headlined by Anthony Pettis looking to defend his lightweight strap for the first time against Josh Thomson.
