Rousimar Palhares released from UFC after unsportsmanlike conduct

Rousimar Palhares picked up his first victory in the welterweight division against Mike Pierce at last nights UFC Fight Night 29 event, however he was later released from the organization due to ‘unsportsmanlike conduct’.

In his main card battle, Palhares was able to secure an extremely tight heel hook which forced Pierce to tap. Even after referee Keith Peterson stepped in the stop the fight, Palhares cranked on the leg even more.

“Toquinho” was the lone submission on the fight card, however due to his behaviour he was snubbed for post-fight bonus honors.

On Thursday’s episode of Olbermann on ESPN, UFC President Dana White revealed to Jeremy Shaap that the Brazilian was not only released from the organization, but will never be allowed to fight for the UFC again.
