|

In case you haven’t heard, Singapore-based Rebel Fighting Championship is the latest promotion to enter the Asian Mixed Martial Arts landscape. The organization is set to exhibit its first event, titled “Into the Lion’s Den”, at the turn of the year on December 21, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Fans will be treated to seven amateur match-ups in the prelims and five professional main card bouts.

Speaking of line-ups, the event’s headliner features a Featherweight contest between Phuket Top Team’s “Ruthless” Rob Lisita (12-5), and Japanese MMA legend, “Lion” Takeshi (21-8). But all eyes will be on Singaporean native Syafiq Samad (2-0) as he goes to battle with Korean Top Team’s Gyo Pyung Hwang (3-3).

While those bouts are set to steal the spotlight, there’s an intriguing 205-lbs encounter that’s set to go down on the main card as well, between South Korea’s Doo Hwan Kim (4-1) and Brazil’s Cristiano Kaminishi (8-1, 2 NC).

rebelfc1_fightposterKim, a team mate of Hwang’s at Korean Top Team, is a Pacific X-Treme Combat vet who was last seen at Top FC ‘s first event in June, where he picked a victory over Hae Jun Yang. The South Korean was the winner of theĀ 7th ADCC Korea Championship, and he’ll be hoping to use those grappling credentials along with his ever-improving stand-up skills to test Kaminishi in his promotional debut. With two out of his four victories coming by way of choke/submission, fans can expect the 25-year-old to take the fight to the canvas.

Cristiano Kaminishi, in the meantime, is a member of the aforementioned Phuket Top Team, the same camp that headliner Rob Lisita trains out of. The Brazilian holds an edge in terms of experience coming into this one, having fought eleven times in his pro MMA career thus far. A staple of Japan’s DEEP and Heat promotions, the Curitiba, Brazil native garners an all-round MMA facet, as evident in his mixture of knockout and submission victories. However, the 34-year-old hasn’t competed in a pro MMA contest since 2010, so it remains to be seen if cage/ring rust will materialize come fight night.

As it stands, check out Rebel FC 1’s line-up below, along with an exclusive preview and sneak peek for Doo Hwan Kim (pictured) vs. Cristiano Kaminishi:
