While it wasn’t the match-up many of us had hoped for, Alexander Gustafsson now has an opponent for his bout at UFC Fight Night: London on March 8th. Instead of fighting an established Top 5, or even Top 10 opponent, Gustafsson will instead fight the up-and-coming Jimi Manuwa at the top of the event’s main card, scheduled to air on Fox Sports 2.

Alexander Gustafsson vs Jimi Manuwa announced for UFC Fight Night: London

UFC officials announced the bout earlier today.

Alexander “The Mauler” Gustafsson (15-2) was last seen giving Jon Jones the fight of his life at UFC 165 in Toronto, Ontario. After losing the slightly controversial decision, and then losing out on an immediate rematch in favor of a new challenger (Glover Teixiera), the well-rounded Gustafsson will now be looking to work his way back to another title shot. Will he be able to earn a second title shot with a victory over “Poster Boy?”

Jimi “Poster Boy” Manuwa (14-0) is one of the latest wave of British fighters that the UFC is hoping will catch on in the upper echelons of the sport. The Keddles Gym-based finishing machine was last seen fighting Ryan Jimmo in a fight that ended due to a bizarre leg injury suffered by Jimmo in the 2nd round. Will the English knock-out artist be able to propel himself into the Top 10 with a win over “The Mauler?”

UFC Fight Night: London goes down on March 8th, 2014 from the O2 Arena in London, England. The main event is currently set to be a Light Heavyweight clash, featuring Alexander “The Maulder” Gustafsson taking on local boy Jimi “Poster Boy” Manuwa.
