UFC welterweight Jason High was expected to take on newcomer Baneil Dariush at UFC Fight Night 35 on January 15, however an unexpected appendix surgery has forced High to withdraw from the bout.

High announced the fact that he wasn’t able to fight via his official Twitter account.

After losing his UFC debut, High (18-4) has gone on to win two in a row. At UFC Fight Night 27 he defeated James Head via a nasty first round guillotine and followed that up with a unanimous decision win against Anthony Lapsley at UFC 167 in November.

No word as to whether the UFC is seeking a replacement for Dariush.

UFC Fight Night 35 goes down on January 15 from the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga. The main event is a middleweight showdown between Luke Rockhold and Constantinos Philipppou.
