In the Pacific X-Treme Combat’s first event of 2014, PXC Featherweight champ Jang Yong Kim (pictured) is set for his first title defense.

Officials have announced on Facebook that Kim (7-5-1) will meet Toby Misech (4-2) in the main event of PXC 42 on February 28 at the UOG Fieldhouse in Guam.

The event’s main card is expected to stream online, free-of-charge, at the following link.

This will be Kim’s first bout since his astonishing victory over Mark Striegl at PXC 39, where a third-round unorthodox leg scissor choke garnered him both “Fight of the Year” honors and a strap around his waist.

Against all odds: Jang Yong Kim submitted the heavily favored Mark Striegl in their title match-up at PXC 39.

Following a 2-4 start, the South Korean rebounded with a 5-1-1 run en route to his title affair with Striegl in September. He fights out of the Korean Top Team, a facility that is now renowned for producing UFC fighters Hyun Gyu Lim and Tae Hyun Bang among many others.

Misech gets his title shot on the strength of two impressive knockout wins to open his PXC career. He took on Sung Hwan Cho in his promotional debut at PXC 36 and stopped the South Korean via a kick to the body towards the end of the third frame. He then capped off 2013 with a one-punch knockout of Yusuke Yachi at PXC 38 to cement his title shot.

Also announced for the PXC 42 fight card are promotional staples Frank Camacho (11-2), Kyle Reyes (4-1) and Kailin Curran (2-0). Their opponents, however, were not named.
