The former Interim UFC Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit could get another crack at 170-pound gold, that is if he can get past Tyron Woodley at UFC 171.

A tweet came out from UFC on FOX yesterday that stated Condit had received word, if victorious he would get the next shot at the welterweight title.

“The Natural Born Killer” comes in to the bout against Woodley, as a -175 favorite, which is as close as they can come. You may not make much money on this bout, in fact you could probably make more money playing poker at 888.

Condit (29-7) snapped a two-fight losing skid when he TKO’d Martin Kampmann in the main event at UFC Fight Night 27. Prior to that victory, “The Natural Born Killer” lost to Johny Hendricks in a number one contender bout and Georges St-Pierre in a welterweight championship fight.

Woodley (12-2) is also coming off a victory – at UFC 167 he picked up an impressive knockout against Josh Koscheck. “T-Wood” is 2-1 under the UFC banner since making his way over from Strikeforce.

Condit was expected to take on Matt Brown at this past weekends UFC on FOX 9 fight card, but Brown was forced out due to injury. With Condit needing an opponent, Woodley apparently sent numerous text messages to UFC officials and his wish came true.

UFC 171 will go down on March 15, 2014 from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Headlining the event will be Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler for the vacant welterweight championship.
