Will Chope slated to face Jeremy Kennedy at PRO FC 9 in Taiwan

|

As the UFC continues to remain hesitant in re-signing Will Chope (19-6), the 23-year-old has wasted little time in getting his next fight covered.

MMASucka.com confirmed with sources close to the situation on Wednesday that Chope is set to meet Canada’s Jeremy Kennedy (3-0), in the ninth installment of Taiwan-based Pacific Rim Organized Fighting next month.

PRO FC 9 is expected to take place on May 25, at the Luxy Contemporary Nightlife Complex in Taiwan.

Chope will make his first pro MMA appearance since his UFC release just a fortnight ago. The lanky Californian was future endeavored by the promotion after a Bleacher Report article detailing his violent past surfaced online. Prior to that, he made his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 34, where he suffered a second round TKO setback at the hands of Max Holloway. Chope has made four appearances under the PRO FC banner to date.

The American made his case to be re-signed by the UFC earlier this week, jointly releasing a video with his ex-wife Ashley, who was the victim of the alleged domestic abuse.

Team Quest Thailand’s Kennedy, meanwhile, is one of Canada’s fast rising prospects, with a 3-0 record. In June 2013, he made his pro MMA debut against Dan Lin in the Vancouver-based Battlefield Fight League promotion. He picked up a lopsided decision win on the night, but back-to-back knockout victories since then has put the British Columbia native on the radar.
