At Tuesday’s “Special Announcement” Press Conference in Mexico City, UFC President Dana White announced that UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez and number one contender Fabricio Werdum would be the coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America” and the two will square off in the main event at UFC 180 in November.

Tuesday’s press conference took place at the Four Seasons Hotel, in Mexico City, Mexico.

Velasquez (13-1) has been out of action since October with a shoulder injury after finishing Junior dos Santos at UFC 166. The current champ is currently on a four-fight winning streak, with victories over Antonio Silva twice and dos Santos on two occasions as well.

Since his debut with the UFC in 2008, the proud Mexican has gone 11-1.

Werdum (18-5-1) has earned his crack at Velasquez’s heavyweight title after going on a four-fight winning streak with victories over Roy Nelson, Mike Russow, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and most recently a decisive decision against Travis Browne.

The Brazilian has only lost one fight in the last five years.

UFC 180 will mark the first time the organization has been to Mexico and will take place on November 15 from Arena Mexico in Mexico City. “TUF: Latin America” will begin filming in May, with the series to debut on August 18. The tournament will feature featherweight and bantamweight competitors.
