The UFC announced the main event for their return to Fox this July, with the welterweight divisions #1 contender Robbie Lawler facing #5 ranked Matt Brown.

Lawler is coming off a victory over Jake Ellenberger this past Saturday at UFC 173, and has elected to take his third fight in four months as he campaigns for another shot at the welterweight title. Lawler dominated Ellenberger for three rounds on the way to a TKO win, after losing a close decision at UFC 171 in March in a welterweight title match with Johny Hendricks.

Brown on the other hand is riding a seven fight undefeated streak, with six of those wins coming by knockout. This will be the first time Brown has faced someone in the top ten of the welterweight division, after a previously scheduled fight with Carlos Condit fell apart due to injury. In his last fight, Matt Brown looked better than ever against Erick Silva in the main event of UFC Fight Night 40.

The fight will take place on July 26 in San Jose, California, and features Anthony ‘Rumble’ Johnson and Antonio Rogerio Nogueria in the co-main event. Also on the card are a pair of lightweight fights between Michael Johnson and Josh Thomson, and Daron Cruickshank and Jorge Masvidal respectively, and a featherweight fight between Clay Guida and Dennis Bermudez.
