On Saturday evening during the UFC Fight Night 44 broadcast, MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani announced that Chael Sonnen had failed a second drug test. This time testing positive for HGH and EPO.

This comes just a few weeks after Sonnen was dropped from the UFC 175 fight card due to a failed random drug test.

UFC and FOX Sports terminate broadcasting service agreements with Chael Sonnen

The UFC and FOX Sports on Monday sent out a press release announcing that the two have terminated broadcasting service agreements with Sonnen.

“The UFC and FOX Sports organizations announced today the termination of their respective broadcasting services agreements with analyst Chael Sonnen. This decision comes in light of Sonnen failing a second test conducted by the Nevada Athletic Commission for banned substances in June. Sonnen was previously under temporary suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission for failing an initial test conducted in May.”

In January 2013, Sonnen joined the UFC Tonight line-up on FOX Sports 1. He has been a great addition to the team and will be missed with his analysis prior to FOX Sports fight cards.

Sonnen was expected to take on Vitor Belfort at UFC 175 in his first appearance inside the Octagon since his UFC 167 TKO loss to Rashad Evans, but as stated earlier he failed a random drug test.
