Eddie Gordon vs. Josh Samman set for UFC 181

|

Las Vegas gets a battle of middleweight TUF vets as season 19 winner Eddie ‘Truck’ Gordon takes on season 17 semi-finalist Josh Samman.

UFC officials confirmed the bout on Tuesday.

Gordon (7-1) is a product of the Serra-Longo Fight Team, so he gets to train with UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman regularly. Having spent most of his young career at 205 lbs, Gordon won the Ring of Combat title in that weight class before eventually moving down to middleweight to compete on season 17 of the Ultimate Fighter. On the show he defeated Gabel, King and Pendred. The latter two being split decision wins. In the finals it took him just 71 seconds to starch Dhiego Lima.

Samman (10-2) is a product of MMA Masters and competed on season 17 of the Ultimate Fighter as a member of Team Jones. With 9 of 10 wins coming by way of finish, Samman has not fought since he defeated Kevin Casey at the finale in April of 2013. He has since had fights set against Uriah Hall and Caio Magalhaes, but was forced out of both due to injury.

The fight will fall under the prelim section of the card.

UFC 181 is expected to take place on December 6 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be headlined by a welterweight title fight between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler.
