Luke Rockhold calls out Jacare Souza following UFC Fight Night 55 victory

|

Going into the UFC Fight Night 55 main event, Luke Rockhold and Michael Bisping had some serious animosity. They had heated battles leading up to the fight, and in the end Rockhold locked up the mounted guillotine choke early in the second round to finish off Bisping.

Following the bout, Rockhold shook hands with his foe and congratulated him on a job well done. Sportsmanship at its finest.

UFC commentator Dan Hardy asked Rockhold specifically who he would like to fight next, as the champion Chris Weidman is already locked up with Vitor Belfort. The answer was simple.
All respect to Jacare, but I’ll beat you again. I’m the number one contender and I’ll prove it any time I have to. I’m the best out here and I’ll just get in here with anybody it doesn’t matter.
Rockhold (13-2) is currently riding a three-fight winning streak, with his lone UFC blemish coming in his debut against Belfort. Since that loss he has finished all three opponents and earned ‘Performance of the Night’ and ‘Knockout of the Night’ honors.

In 2011, Rockhold earned a unanimous decision against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza to capture the Strikeforce Middleweight Championship. The bout was as even as they come, with many folks thinking Souza actually did enough to win.

No word as to what’s next for Rockhold, but keep it locked to MMASucka.com for more news as it arises.
