As eluded to on Saturday night during the UFC 182 broadcast, lightweight champion Anthony Pettis will indeed put his 155-pound title on the line at UFC 185 in Dallas against Rafael dos Anjos.

UFC officials announced the title fight on Sunday morning.

Pettis (18-2) won the belt at UFC 164, when he armbarred Benson Henderson in the very first round. After over a year layoff, “Showtime” returned to the Octagon after a coaching stint on The Ultimate Fighter against fellow coach Gilbert Melendez at UFC 181. The champ proved he is the best in the division when he locked in a guillotine choke and forced the challenger to tap in the second round.

dos Anjos (23-7) is riding a three-fight winning streak. He garnered the attention of fans when he blasted through former champ Henderson in the very first round of their UFC Fight Night 49 main event. Just four months later and dos Anjos proved it wasn’t a fluke by obliterating Nate Diaz at UFC on FOX 13.

UFC 185 goes down on March 14 from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The bout between Pettis and dos Anjos is expected to be the evening’s main event.
