On Friday night, Chris Horodecki took on Lance Palmer in the main event of WSOF 21 in Edmonton, Alberta.

Palmer was able to flatten Horodecki out late in the first round and lock in a very tight rear-naked choke which forced him to tap out.

UFC Lightweight veteran Sam Stout was in the corner of the challenger and despite things not going his way, Stout was proud of the way Horodecki fought.

“I don’t really think he did anything wrong, Lance is just a very talented guy, a strong athletic guy,” Stout told MMASucka.com following the bout. “He got his back in a scramble, flattened him out and it’s a very tough position to defend that choke from.  So I don’t really think necessarily there’s anything we can change, hindsight’s 20/20.  Maybe he should have tried to roll back to his, you know get his guard back a little quicker, but he was trying to get position from that scramble, it’s part of the game right?”

Many fighters right now are being asked what they think of the UFC partnership with Reebok. Stout was very tentative at first, as the payout was going to be based on ranking. Now that it has been changed to tenure, “Hands of Stone” is very pleased with the sponsorship deal.

“At first the Reebok deal was kind of weird because they were talking about paying the guys based on the rankings. But they’ve decided to do it base on tenure, so it works out very well. I’m actually at the second from the top tier for payouts now, so in the end it worked out fairly well for me.

The last time we saw Stout enter the Octagon was at UFC 185 in March, when he was knocked out by Ross Pearson. He is currently riding a two fight losing skid, with both losses being by way of knockout.

Fortunately for Stout, the UFC will be giving him another shot inside the Octagon and from the sounds of it, it will be in front of his home country of Canada.

“I have a date, I don’t have an opponent yet,” Stout said. “It looks like I’ll be fighting August 23 and there’s a rumor that it may be here in Canada, maybe Saskatchewan.  I don’t have an opponent but hopefully I’ll be fighting this summer.”
