The renegade subculture of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a brutal one and Byron Balasco’s critically- acclaimed series throws a serious jab as a raw family drama into the cage. Set in Venice, California, Alvey (Frank Grillo), a former MMA champion and his girlfriend Lisa (Kiele Sanchez) are in the fight of their lives to keep Navy St., Alvey’s MMA gym, alive. Alvey’s two sons have tried at different times to follow in his footsteps. Jay (Jonathan Tucker), his wayward son and talented fighter gone rogue, is willing to go through extraordinary means to make sure his mother Christina (Joanna Going) is taken care of. Nate (Nick Jonas) is a controlled, disciplined fighter with a laser focus set on his future in the cage but he struggles with his own personal identity. Love, strength and family are put to the ultimate test as two fighters –Nate and Lisa’s ex- boyfriend, Ryan (Matt Lauria) – prove they just might be what Navy St. needs.
