On Saturday night Conor McGregor shocked the world, not by beating Jose Aldo, but by knocking the featherweight kingpin out in just 13-seconds.

McGregor opens as favorite in potential rematch with Aldo

In the weeks leading up to the fight, McGregor was the slight favorite on most betting sites. However after the weigh-ins and Aldo looked to be as confident as ever, the betting odds swayed. Aldo came into the bout as the favorite.

With a potential rematch in the works, McGregor who is now the current UFC 145-pound champion has opened on Bodog.ca as a -160 favorite, with Aldo coming in as +130 underdog.

The anticipation of the first bout between McGregor and Aldo was so immense, that a rematch only makes sense. But according to UFC Director of Public Relations Dave Sholler at the UFC 194 post-fight press conference, the promotion has two option:

  1. McGregor stays at 145-pounds and puts his belt on the line against number one contender Frankie Edgar
  2. McGregor moves up to 155-pounds and immediately gets a shot at the winner of Rafael dos Anjos and Donald Cerrone for the UFC lightweight championship

Neither of those options have Aldo in them, so from the sounds of it, the rematch isn’t in the cards.
